Kondo LaboratoryA project to develop a national platform of support for students with disabilities at the higher education level. In addition to our consulting service to support students with disabilities, we are involved in a wide range of initiatives in cooperation with universities and businesses throughout Japan. These include establishing standards for support, developing and delivering specialized training, operating a library of assistive technology, and creating bases nationwide to help people transition to employment.

Creating local models to generate decent work starting from as little as 15 minutes a week

Kondo LaboratoryA project in partnership with local governments, businesses, and civil society to develop mechanisms for bringing local job opportunities to people whose characteristics mean that they are easily excluded from regular employment opportunities established for people with disabilities. We are engaged in research, development, and implementation of models such as the “ultra-short-time employment model” (an employment-labor model to provide work from as little as 15 minutes, or one hour, per week in ordinary companies, with support from the local community).

Supporting the production of accessible textbooks

Kondo LaboratoryA national center here to assist voluntary production groups and textbook publishers throughout Japan in producing special school textbooks that are accessible for children with disabilities (braille textbooks, enlarged textbooks, and audio materials).

Delivering books and textbooks accessible to all

Kondo LaboratoryAn online library for children who have special educational needs in the area of reading. We distribute audio materials converted from authorized subject textbooks into accessible digital books free of charge to elementary, junior high, and high school students with challenges such as learning disabilities, visual impairments, and physical disabilities, as well as accessible versions of assigned books for book reports.

Kondo LaboratoryAn industry-academia collaboration project aimed at helping children and young people with disabilities grow into the future leaders of Japan, using technology to aid their transition to university, employment, and a successful career. The project is co-sponsored by Microsoft Japan, Softbank Corporation, Mizuho Financial Group, and P&G Japan.
